Jinkx Monsoon for life!

hey team,
oddly enough, this season I have become very emotionally invested in RuPaul's Drag Race. I knew three episodes deep that not only did I want Jinkx Monsoon to win, but that she was my favorite of ALL TIME.
She's such an old-school gifted performer in so many ways. She tells jokes, she sings songs, she dances, she has big personality, and she seems to be a genuine sweetheart off stage as well.
Since RuPaul is having a social media write-in campaign to determine the winner I did a drawing of Jinkx Monsoon to post in all the various formats online to show my support.
.
you may recognize the pattern as the same fabric from this oil painting I did of my best friend Gordie. I scanned it in with a little bit of ripple and wave hoping that the texture of the scan itself would imply a curtain on the background.
Here it is with the just the brushwork and no digital shenanigans:

now get out there and tweet #TeamJinkx while there is still time!

Marilyn Summers tickles the ivories

My friend Lauren Maul is having a birthday this week, so I finally got around to drawing her in character as the delightful Marilyn Summers.
Since she is a cabaret girl I wanted to do something a wee bit Toulouse Lautrecish, with artificial screen printing misregistrations
and I did this all from start to finish in under 3 hours. Because I care.

Sam Waterston

I love old school Law & Order. Not that SVU crap, the original. That was such a great tv show. I curse whoever the bastard is that removed it from the airwaves.
Maybe I should draw the entire cast. I could do a nice one of Jerry Orbach getting all sassy.

The Mad World of Miss Hathaway

S. Dixon is pals with Angela Di Carlo, who is a downtown cabaret artist of sorts.  She does a regular show that's a musical parody of Mad Men called The Mad World of Miss Hathaway.
I got in touch and asked for her permission to do an image of her in character for her upcoming show

I wanted to do it in a bit of a Coby Whitmore style, because oh boy do I ever love that guy

Air B n' B

this afternoon, in lieu of my usual monday funday or red-wine crafternoons, I went over to the home of Darkness and Peaches (my compatriots from The Hotel) to do a little doodling on their walls for their spare room that they are going to start pimping on Air B n' B

this is the wine we consumed:

 of course Rosalita was there

i got my feet all dirty

this is what we came up with for the welcome wall

and then the phrase "boudoir noir" for no reason whatsoever
